Do you like typography? What about Lady Gaga? Facial hair? I first caught a glimpse of this video in the Metro on the way to college a couple of days ago, it had me in stitches, reminds me of the horrific 'Puke in My Mouth' videos.

For a change of scenery myself, Luke, Becca and Matt decided upon ourselves to go to London for the day to see some sights and sounds. I had a fantastic day, we ended up going to the Design Museum near the Thames where we saw some architecture and product design by Braun and of course stopping by the gift shop. I found the exhibit really interesting in particular the spacial design and use of labeling in exhibition space and such which I have been of keen interest lately. From there we plodded on to have some dinner, at this point of course we had spent nearly six hours on the coach ride there and had wandered around the Design Museum for over an hour. The headed down to the Tate Modern which was awesome because I had never seen it, looking at the exhibits which were needless to say 'interesting', basically it involved lots of Andy Warhol, pretentious art thinking and 18+ screened areas, and of course spending money in the gift shop again.

From there we also had a look at the London Graphic Design Centre, which is fantastic for every graphic designers needs, Covent Garden, Kidrobot store, Hamleys Toy store and after a very tiring day we had to stop at platform 9 3/4 before we left. An amazing day indeed, to which every opportunity was taken to visit a gift shop.

Apparently every year the Visual Communication degree course holds a money raising event for charity every year. There were some awesome ideas such as the traditional baking cupcakes, lucky dips and such but with a twist. To get a cupcake you had to guess the typeface, or you could challenge the VisCom team in Call of Duty 6, buy a handmade ashtray made out of drinks cans, make the longest swear word of of some given letters or simply watch two people squirt reddened water at each other. The cupcakes were nice, and I bought this handmade wrapping paper for 30p I thought i'd share with you.

I think I would definitely call this catering for a niche market. People who like beards, have a look if you haven't seen. By Erin Dollar @ Beards.

Carboot sales are amazing. I've never had a typewriter before so I picked this number up at the local carboot in Dewsbury, it was in full working order, came with an ink ribbon (which had two colours) for a mere... £2.50. Bargain.

Something to pass the time... its really hard tho. The Rather Difficult Font Game found via Shinyblog, and i know it should be called typeface.

When I took my trip to the car-boot last week and looked for uses of print (Click), I also bought a camera for myself, not knowing it was any good I previously had a manual camera which doesn't work anymore so I bought a new one, a Practica MLT 5B for £12. And here are the photos, not too bad really from what I was expecting. I love the first one, and I'm really impressed by the focus. The camera also had a timer function which lasts about eight seconds which I thought is pretty nifty, hence the image of myself looking rather confused as I thought the timer had already gone off.
